Street art and Photography.
This is basically one of the first 'posters' i ever put up. This is also where my relationships with street photographers began. OHAD, a DC photographer, took a picture of the two-headed monster. That picture was then used for the cover of the book, The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears by Dinaw Mengestu. OHAD's photos are beautiful!
Daquella manera has been a long time DC street art photographer and documentarian. He gets it all!
My best friend RELAX has a love for languages. Fluent in three, she explained to me that the chorus of the song that we were listening to in french said, "you are the prettiest flower in my garden". See more photos from this DC photographer here.

El Canuto del Rock part two, we find Don Ama visiting Washington DC and sharing experiences and lessons learned about life with Liliana, an African-American-Salvadoran (played by DC's own Cherie Latson) making a film about his journey from country boy to "rocanrol" DJ... All with the backdrop of live music by DC's own Latin roc/punk band Machetres, joined by Alex Iraheta.

Painting is fun.
A bunch of us painted up by the new base ball stadium last night with a project called Breaking Waves. AND we got to listen to the Billy Joel/ Elton John concert while we painted! Hold me closer, tiny dancer.

Maureen Andary
At a super fun dinner party tonight I got to reconnect with Maureen Andary, who performed at one of my earliest shows at Hospital for Horses and Dogs years ago. So much fun to hear her play again. You should try your hardest to see her July 12 at Wonderland- 8pm. I promise you will LOVE it.

This documentary tells the extraordinary story of Herbert Vogel, a postal clerk, and Dorothy Vogel, a librarian, who managed to build one of the most important contemporary art collections in history with very modest means. In the early 1960s, when very little attention was paid to minimalist and conceptual art, Herb and Dorothy quietly began purchasing the works of unknown artists. Devoting all of Herb's salary to purchase art they liked, and living on Dorothy's paycheck alone, they continued collecting artworks guided by two rules: the piece had to be affordable, and it had to be small enough to fit in their one-bedroom Manhattan apartment. Within these limitations, they collected over 4,000 pieces and proved themselves curatorial visionaries; most of those they supported and befriended went on to become world-renowned artists. Their circle includes: Sol LeWitt, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Richard Tuttle, Chuck Close, Robert Mangold, Sylvia Mangold, Lynda Benglis, Pat Steir, Robert Barry, Lucio Pozzi and Lawrence Weiner.
